Meet Michaela

Michaela grew up feeling like she didn’t have family or a good support system. She went into foster care when she was eleven years old, and although she was originally from the Eastside, she bounced around Washington State until she aged out at eighteen.

Michaela became homeless after aging-out of foster care housing when she turned eighteen. She lived in a van with her partner and infant daughter before finding an apartment with Imagine Housing. Since moving in, Michaela got her first job with Starbucks – a personal milestone she feels was made possible because of her stable housing at our 30Bellevue community.

“When we got the call from 30Belllevue [and Imagine Housing], it was… all the stress on our shoulders was gone. We were finally going to have permanent housing. Housing that you don’t have to worry that you’re going to be kicked out because your lease is going to end. We finally could relax, have a little bit of peace, and start building our lives from here on up.”
