Thank you for building homes, community, opportunity, and stability on the Eastside.

Looking back on 2023, Imagine Housing focused on building a pipeline for the future of affordable housing development while also delivering quality resident services at 16 properties across the Eastside.

Samma Senior Apartments in Bothell is nearly complete with an anticipated opening before the end of 2024! At the end of 2023, the City of Kenmore approved the proposal for The Approach – a first-of-its-kind development bringing affordable rental and homeownership opportunities to the same development. Bellevue’s C-1 land use amendment opens the door for faith-based communities to participate in affordable housing development. We are excited about these opportunities and the impact potential for more people to live, work, and play in the Eastside community.

Imagine Housing has arrived at this moment because of support from cities, individuals, corporations, King County, faith communities, foundations, and special funding sources to address the area’s need for more housing. Thanks to you, over 1,500 people have a place to call home and the support they need to remain stably housed.

Together we are making significant strides in meeting the challenge to provide an affordable place to live for everyone who wants to call the Eastside home. We know that the need has never been greater and with your commitment, more people will have the comfort of home.

In this report, you will see how your commitment changes lives through stable, affordable housing and resident services during 2023.

Celebrating a Decade of Stability

Marcel-Cropped

Meet Marcel

Marcel is celebrating his tenth year living at Francis Village, an Imagine Housing community.

Marcel is a resident at Imagine Housing thankful to have a place to call his own. He enjoys spending time with his neighbors, going to community events, and hanging out with his service dog, Duke.

Marcel worked as a commercial driver most of his life, but an addiction eventually caused him to lose his livelihood and end up homeless. He started out couch surfing and wound up living on the streets. He would look for places to hang out during the day and worked hard to not look homeless so that he could be inside. On the streets, Marcel was involved in a bicycle accident that left him with a serious head injury. Thanks to the program at Congregations for the Homeless (now PorchLight), Marcel was connected with Imagine Housing, which started his journey of long-term housing stability.

This year is Marcel’s tenth year living at Francis Village, an Imagine Housing community in Kirkland with 61 apartments. Today, Marcel is grateful to have this fresh start and feels blessed to live in an apartment he can afford and to have a place to rest his head every day. His large laugh and cheerful disposition marks him as a member of the community who everyone knows by name. Because Marcel can afford his apartment, he was able to recover from his injuries and become an active member of his community.

Samma Senior Apartments

Currently under construction in Bothell, this community will have 76 apartments for seniors. We broke ground on Samma Senior Apartments in December of 2023 and anticipate it opening in fall of 2024.
