Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and all that he stood for. A large part of Dr. King’s efforts to bring equality among races involved housing equality, requiring the Mortgage Bankers Association to make mortgages available regardless of race.

When we take steps to make affordable housing available to all, we are taking steps on what Dr. King called “a thousand-mile journey.” We may have a long way to go, but we can thank activists like Dr. King for starting us in the right direction.
