There's affordable housing on the Eastside?
Yes, there is! You've probably driven past an Imagine Housing community and not even realized it.
Other organizations also offer affordable housing on the Eastside, including King County Housing Authority.
How do people get an apartment with Imagine Housing?
People can apply for an apartment at Imagine Housing in the same way that someone applies for any other apartment.
The applicants' income is verified, to confirm they are eligible for low-income housing, and a background check is performed.
We also partner with other agencies to fill apartments via referral, such as the King County Regional Homeless Authority’s Coordinated Entry (CE) program to combat homelessness.
What are Supportive Services?
"Resident Programs," sometimes called Supportive Services, encompasses all the extra programming we provide to residents who live in our buildings.
This includes case management for formerly homeless households, help with basic needs supplies (e.g. hygiene and cleaning supplies), food assistance, community building, and assistance navigating the various resources around the County. Our on-site Case Managers are available to help residents access legal assistance, food assistance, or employment assistance.

Do residents pay rent?
Yes, Imagine Housing residents pay rent. The average rent amount across our whole portfolio is $629 per month.
Rent levels are set by state policy, and it helps fund our property operations, management, and maintenance. We also use rental income to pay off debt that we used to build the communities.
Rent is set at different levels based on the unit “set-aside,” i.e. income level of its occupants, and many of our apartments are subsidized through government programs, such as Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing or Housing Choice Voucher Program Section 8.
Where does your funding come from?
Our operations are funded through a combination of property revenues, private and foundation grants, individual and corporate donations, and developer fees.
Our buildings are funded through federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit dollars, State, County, and local funds, and traditional bank loans.
We also receive operating support from King County to keep the buildings running and provide the programs that help residents remain stable.
Lastly, resident services programs donations and through a combination of City and County human services funds, private and foundation grants, and individual donations.
How do I apply for an apartment at Imagine Housing?
Each Imagine Housing community has its own leasing office and application process.

Do you have Assisted Living?
Imagine Housing senior communities are available for seniors who earn 30-60% of area median income, but none of them are assisted living communities.
Do you have Permanent Supportive Housing?
Imagine Housing does not have any Permanent Supportive Housing communities.
Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) is permanent housing in which housing assistance (e.g., long-term leasing or rental assistance) and supportive services are provided to assist households with at least one member (adult or child) with a disability in achieving housing stability (e.g be experiencing chronic homelessness).
Imagine Housing provides permanent affordable housing with resident programs to those whose income is less than 60% of the Area Median Income.
