Imagine Housing’s mission is to develop affordable housing, build welcoming communities, and foster vibrant futures.
Everyone needs a home to achieve their highest potential. We believe that communities are stronger when everyone has a place to call home.
Imagine Housing communities are home to over 1,400 people whose income is below 60% of the area median income. Our residents include families, veterans, single parents, youth and adults who have been homeless, survivors of domestic violence, and people on a fixed income due to age, health, or disability. Our residents have diverse backgrounds, needs, and goals. Imagine Housing’s affordable homes offer them a stable place to build their future.
Imagine Housing develops permanent affordable rental homes in East King County. Our apartments provide individuals and families a place to live near their jobs, good schools, transportation, and health services. We create welcoming communities and offer individualized support to allow each resident to pursue and achieve their goals. We own and manage 15 apartment communities across the Eastside.
We offer on-site, individualized services to help residents take the next step in transforming their lives. Our Resident Support staff members meet regularly with residents starting the day they move in. We connect our residents to resources for employment, healthcare, education, substance abuse or mental health counseling, legal assistance and help with basic needs such as food and clothing. We build a sense of community at each of our properties through the events our Case Managers tailor to community needs, such as community meals, holiday parties, craft nights and classes.
Our History: Rooted in Our Community
In 1987, a small group of highly passionate people at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Bellevue, WA saw a clear need for more affordable housing in East King County. They were not content to sit on the sidelines, and soon formed St. Andrew’s Housing Group as an independent non-profit organization focused entirely on creating affordable apartment homes in the region. A talented and dedicated founding board of directors quickly came together and set to work. Our founders had lofty goals and spent the first several years creating relationships and raising the funds to build our first community. In 1992, we opened Andrew’s Arms, creating 14 affordable apartment homes in Issaquah, and hired the organization’s first executive director soon after. As we grew with the community, our team saw the positive impact that stable housing creates for people and added staff to coordinate and provide services to support residents’ stability as needed. In 2011, we adopted the name Imagine Housing and are now considered the leading non-profit affordable housing developer in East King County. We own and manage 15 apartment communities, serving over 1,400 people. We work closely with multiple jurisdictions, King County, Washington State, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Veteran’s Association to provide high quality apartment homes for people earning less than 60% of the area median income. We partner with over 70 other nonprofits and agencies to assist our residents with basic needs, transportation, employment, and health services. Just as we’ve helped transform people’s lives, we continue to transform for the future. We are on our way to creating another 500 affordable apartments for families, people exiting homelessness, seniors, veterans, and individuals by 2022. Join us.
