“I love being part of a dynamic staff that creatively sets out to meet and even expand upon the mission of the organization. Imagine Housing meets core critical requirements of all human beings: shelter and security. I feel privileged to be part of an organization that seeks to discover the needs of the people in our community, and then sets out to meet those needs.” Sue Bliven, Director of Finance
Sue is responsible for preparing and overseeing Imagine Housing’s annual budget, managing the organization’s financial assets, managing all financial functions — including accounting, budget, credit, insurance, tax and treasury — and designing and coordinating a variety of accounting and statistical data reports. She also directs the work of others to plan, establish and maintain the business organization of Imagine Housing to efficiently carry out its mission.
With the organization since 2001, Sue has built more than a decade of experience in nonprofit financial and asset management. She holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Clemson University.
“I was drawn to Imagine Housing because of the opportunity and the need for affordable housing in East King County. There is a great sense of collaboration and joy in our office and with our Board of Directors. The work that we do can be extremely challenging since there is always such a great need for affordable housing but the resources are always so limited. It is a pleasure to work with people that not only share a vision but also know how to make it fun and engaging.” SIBYL GLASBY, DIRECTOR OF HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
As Director of Housing Development for Imagine Housing and Red Vines 1, Sibyl identifies, secures financing for, structures and manages all new housing development projects for Imagine Housing and Red Vines 1. At present, Sibyl is working on the development of hundreds of new affordable housing units.
Joining the Imagine Housing team in 2013, Sibyl has over 20 years of experience with market-rate and nonprofit affordable housing. She previously worked at both Mercy Housing and the Seattle Housing Authority, leading mixed finance closings and redevelopment planning. Sibyl holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington.
“I love everything about what I do, from maintaining buildings to arranging roof repairs, solving drainage puzzles, providing excellent customer service to residents and figuring out how to make money stretch the furthest it possibly can. I strongly believe there is a fundamental human right to adequate, secure and affordable housing for everyone, available in areas where people work, have family and friends, and have developed community and support. Imagine Housing is helping to provide that on the Eastside, and we’re constantly striving to improve on the model.” Suzanne Koval, Director of Assets
Suzanne oversees operations, financial health and outlook for our properties, as well as capital needs for Imagine Housing, focusing on sustainability, asset preservation and resident satisfaction.
With more than 20 years of market-rate and nonprofit affordable housing management experience, Suzanne has a proven track record of managing complex assets serving diverse populations, and her past work includes managing more than 2,500 residential units throughout King, Pierce and Snohomish counties. She also has her Certified Property Manager designation through IREM.
“I love learning from our residents, the supportive services team and my co-workers. I enjoy getting to be creative about how best to support our residents and assist in building a sense of community throughout our properties. Having stable housing allows our residents to provide more for themselves and their families, discover new opportunities for their futures and grow as strong community members. Getting to be a part of this amazing solution to poverty and getting to know the unique and gifted residents we serve is an honor and a privilege for me.” Rachel Mathison, Director of Supportive Services
Rachel leads the supportive services team, which supports residents by offering a variety of resources at Imagine Housing communities.
With Imagine Housing since 2009, Rachel has been involved in providing services to those in need since 2000, through activities and jobs ranging from community organizing to program design and implementation.
