Our community makes our work possible
Imagine Housing is changing the lives of more than 1,000 Eastside children and adults in our 427 permanent affordable rental homes thanks to the collaborative support of the individuals, businesses, foundations and government sources that support our work.
The funding model for affordable housing organizations is complex. Projects themselves are funded primarily through state and city dollars and day-to-day property operations are supported by rental income. However, our day-to-day organizational operations rely primarily on the generosity of our community from individuals, foundations and corporations.
Your investment in Imagine Housing supports our mission in the following tangible ways:
- Enhancing our capacity to pursue new affordable housing projects, oversee the construction of projects that are under way, and thoroughly manage and maintain affordable housing communities once they are built.
- Enabling Imagine Housing to offer direct service support to our residents through our supportive services program. It takes as much time every year to develop new projects as it does to support our residents who are already in housing. Through case management, adult education and after-school activities for children, your support enables us to help residents achieve long-term self-sufficiency.
- Bolstering our ability to perform large-scale capital repairs at existing properties. Although rental income supports the daily property operations, because rents are intentionally low, there is not enough “excess” to save fully for major projects such as roof, siding and window repairs. Private philanthropy ensures that all of Imagine Housing’s communities remain quality affordable for decades to come.
