Jen moved into Francis Village in December of 2011. She became homeless as a youth and worked closely with Friends of Youth. When she moved into Francis Village, she told me it would be temporary until she found a job. Everyday Jen was in the community room using the computers to apply for jobs. She worked closely with her case manager from Friends of Youth on finding more stability in her life. Jen checked in with Imagine Housing staff when she needed resumes printed, paperwork scanned, or just wanted someone to listen to her.
Jen recently started a new job in the human services field and will be moving out of Francis Village next month into a private market apartment. She is looking forward to living closer to her work and to her church. When staff congratulated her on her new job and new apartment, Jen said, “My plan was always to live here only while I needed to. Lots of people need housing like this and I don’t want to take up an apartment someone could use. I just needed it until I found a good job.”
